How does iX determine the source controller for a tag when multiple controllers are attached to the tag?

I have some tags sourced from a PLC that I want to send over Modbus slave connection to customer controller (two modbus slave controllers exist - one TCP, one COM). Some of these tags are read only (data direction is purely PLC>Modbus), but others are read/write and should be passed from Modbus>PLC when written to.

Finally, I have other tags that are internal tags that I would like the customer to be able to read over Modbus. Is it possible to indicate to both Modbus controllers that the tag is internal so one controller doesn't try to read it from the other?

Thanks.

In the tags tab in ix Developer, there is a check box called "Data Exchange", check it and it will add a Data Exchange column to the tags tab. You can then setup data exchange between controls.

The controller help tells you how to address a specific controller when multiple are defined within one controller.

For Modbus:
05:40001 addresses holding register 40001 in station 5.

iX Developer help describes how to use Data Exchange.
